Pineapples and Magnolias

When you think of the South, what comes to mind? For many people, it conjures up images of sprawling plantations, grand old homes and, of course, magnolias and pineapples. But there's much more to the South than that. It is also a land steeped in history and tradition, including its own brand of magic known as "conjure."

Conjure is a form of folk magic that roots directly from African/Caribbean traditions brought over by slaves. Over the years it blended in with American Christianity and European Witchcraft as a form of survival, and it relies heavily on ancestral connection, dirt, use of herbs, roots and other natural materials. Conjurers, also known as "root doctors," use their knowledge of herbal medicine and magic to help their clients with everything from love and money problems to healing the sick.

The use of pineapple in southern conjure is thought to date back to the days when slaves were brought over from Africa. Pineapples were a symbol of wealth and luxury, and they were often used in magical spells to bring prosperity. As they are not native to the South, pineapples were also thought to have powerful cleansing properties that could help drive away evil spirits.

Today, pineapple is still used in southern conjure for its ability to attract wealth and luck. It is often combined with other ingredients to create powerful magic spells. A fair different meaning from trending decorative print and other things, right? Today, pineapples are still used in southern conjure for their magical properties. They are often placed in the home to bring good luck, or given as gifts to friends and family.

Magnolias are another important symbol in southern conjure. Magnolia trees are native to the South, and they have been used in magic for centuries. Magnolia blossoms are thought to be powerful symbols of love, and they are often used in spells to attract a lover or to make someone fall in love with you. Magnolia branches are also used to make wands and other magical tools. They are rooted deep within the church, family, and social activities. Ever seen "Sweet Magnolia's" (TV show)?

Magnolias and pineapples are two important symbols in southern conjure. With deep roots of respect, history, and tradition. Traditions stemming from African and Caribbean decent and as you can guess it, white people loved them both so much they stole them too. Not understanding the significance but rather they thought it was pretty and yummy. But that's another story. Today, they are still used in southern conjure for their magical properties. Marigolds are often used in spells to attract love, while pineapples are thought to bring good luck and prosperity.

How to Use Magnolias and Pineapples

If you want to use magnolias and pineapples in your own spells, there are a few things you need to keep in mind. First of all, it's important to know what you're doing. Don't just start randomly combining ingredients without any knowledge of how they interact with each other. Second, be sure to cleanse and charge your ingredients before using them. This will help to ensure that they are working at their full potential. And finally, always be sure to practice safety when working with any form of magic.

When using magnolias and pineapples in your spells, you can either use fresh or dried ingredients. If you're using fresh ingredients, it's important to charge them before using them. To do this, simply hold the ingredient in your hands and focus your energy on it. You can also add a few drops of essential oil to help charge the ingredient. Once it is charged, you can then use it in your spell.

If you're using dried ingredients, you will need to grind them into a powder before using them. To do this, simply place the ingredients into a mortar and pestle and grind them until they are a fine powder. Once they are ground, you can then use them in your spell.

When combining magnolias and/or pineapples in your spells, it's important to keep in mind what you're trying to achieve. For example, if you're looking to attract love, you would combine magnolia blossoms with rose petals. If you're looking to bring prosperity, you would combine pineapples with cinnamon. And if you're looking for protection, you would combine magnolia branches with rosemary.

Once you have your ingredients prepared, you can then begin working on your spell. There are many different ways to create spells, so be creative and experiment until you find something that works for you. But its also important to connect to your ingredients and when using herbs and flowers that is done through the root. So, as you work with your herbs and flowers, take a moment to connect with their energy and intent. Learn its history. Where did it come from? What is its story? Listen vs being heard. When you have that connection, your spells will be all the more powerful.
