This New Moon in Scorpio is a breakthrough. And it can feel like we’re breaking through blockages and barriers, if we choose to see it that way. But this isn't necessary. We don’t need everything fixed or solved at once. In fact, the breaking through that happens when we break down old patterns and the past doesn’t have to be about fear, hardship, or darkness.
Through my late 20s, I often felt like a fish out of water and like I didn't fit in anywhere. I remember feeling like everyone knew themselves better than me; that they were more sure of who they were and what they were doing. I felt like a fake. It was isolating. I felt broken and deeply flawed, but I finally realized that I could create a breakthrough through a practice of gratitude and kindness. A journey and a practice that I have to remind myself of constantly.
As we sit with the Scorpio moon energy this month, there's space for us to consider how we can breakthrough our darker thinking, while also being kind to ourselves in the process. It took some time for me to see that this wasn't about anyone else or external circumstances, but that it had everything to do with the way I was thinking about things.
I realized that my sense of self-worth and my inner beauty were being influenced by what others thought of me or, and in my opinion the worst, what I thought others were thinking about me. It didn’t feel good. And it left room for me to believe that I needed them more than I needed myself. But when did we decide that this is how it is?
We are enough. We are whole, inside and out. So why do our minds so often play tricks on us that tell us otherwise? If you’ve been feeling dark or stuck lately, there's a beautiful opportunity to create space for your breakthrough right now. Breakthroughs come when we can create space for all of our feelings, even if it’s uncomfortable.
Allowing space for your darkest thoughts is the crack in the door that allows more light to enter. It's not about needing everything perfect, or wanting everything to feel good right now, but allowing ourselves to create space so we can embrace all of who we are -- even our darkness.
Just like my idol P!nk says,
"You throw your head back, and you spit in the wind
Let the walls crack, 'cause it lets the light in
Let 'em drag you through hell
They can't tell you to change who you are"
Creating space for your darkest thoughts is the crack in the walls that allows more light to enter. It's not about needing everything perfect, or wanting everything to feel good right now. It’s about allowing yourself to create space so you can embrace all of who you are -- even your darkness.
As we sit with Scorpio energy this month, it’s a great time to ask yourself what you think about the darker parts of your life, and what that says about who you are. This New Moon can show us that we may not have to get rid of every negative thought if it’s serving a purpose for us too.
It's also a chance to see where we judge ourselves, where we feel broken or unworthy, and to consider that these feelings – while difficult – can also be a catalyst for a breakthrough.
Each month the New Moon is a chance to plant new seeds so we can grow into our higher selves. And if you want something new in your life this November, start by planting the seeds of self-love, self-acceptance, and the belief that all things are possible.
We don't need to be completely healed or resonating at the highest vibration every minute of the day. In fact, by creating space for our darkness we can allow a breakthrough in how we look at ourselves and the world around us. And when we breakthrough we will see we are more than enough.
Lyrics from P!NK’s song “All I Know So Far”
